Writer at the Bar: The Git-R-Done

I’ve been on a western kick lately -- I’ve been watching Ken Burn’s The West every night for the past week. Last night I got through the Gold Rush and now I’m into Bleeding Kansas, and I think I’ll probably be finished with the series by the end of the week. I’m always amazed at how much I enjoy these kinds of documentaries – once you get into them, they’re so addicting!

So, to keep up with my Writer at the Bar series, I’ve created a drink based on my latest Western obsession. I was also inspired by this awesome cocktail book my sister got me for Christmas called Cowboy Cocktails by Grady Spears. It has a drink in it called The Irish Cowboy – and this is a variation of it. I also just happened to have a little bit of Bailey’s Irish Cream left over from the holidays, and thought this would be a perfect time to use it.

This is called The Git-R-Done, and seems like a perfect drink for a Monday evening (or earlier if it’s been a rough day). At first, I thought mixing Bailey’s with whiskey might be kind of brutal, but it wasn’t at all. It was actually pretty smooth and delicious.

So here you go:

The Git-R-Done
1 ½ ounces of Bailey’s Irish Cream
1 ½ ounces of Whiskey
3 ounces of room temp. or chilled coffee

Add all three ingredients into a cocktail shaker with lots of ice, and shake until frosty cold. Strain into a glass, drink, and gain a new sense of "Git-R-Done" ness to get you through the rest of your week!
